So we are on day 8 of the school year and already I am hearing from The Drama Queen’s teacher. She has signed up for this cool system called TeacherEase I think and we can log on and see Drama Queen’s grades and correspond. It is very nice! So far only her English teacher and US History teacher are using it, and only the English teacher is updating. It is Honors English II. Currently The Drama Queen has a mid-range C average, and that is only because she was able to redo an assignment. She redid it and showed that she is actually capable of doing the work, and then handed in another half-assed paper today. Honestly I want to smack her! It is so frustrating. I am regretting a lot of the slack I gave her over the summer. Obviously I am failing her here. How do I get her to hold herself accountable? I mean come one she is a freaking Sophomore in high school and all she cares about is talking to her friends about boys. Ugh!  We finally got her to go out for the Theater Group that she really wanted to join last year, but I have a feeling that is only because one of her friends has joined also. She never used to be like this… the hormones have definitely kicked in!

Oh and emailing an English teacher has got to be the most nerve wracking experience! First I am worried about my sentance structure and spelling and punctuation and I keep trying to reword things so I don’t sound like a dolt. I just could see her reaction “Yep no wonder she is inconsistent, her mother is a MORON!”  Her email to me was so formal and I tried to hold to that standard, but as my reply progressed I became me more and more… which actually is really cool because in her reply to my reply she became more her and it became a more relaxed conversation… well as relaxed as you can get in email. It is nice to be up to date on the situation and not fighting to catch up at progress report time. I look forward to meeting her at conferences in a couple weeks.. and until then? We have the website and all it’s splendor.

TDQ is just being a teenager.  Remember what you were doing at her age?  Yep. Talking to your friends about boys.  How soon we forget, eh?  wink

True to a point. But I still got all my school work done on time and in full. It always came first
