"Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart." ~ Kahlil Gibran
So I decided, since it was too cold for swimming Sunday, and I was tired of hearing “When can we go swimming?” from my youngest fish, that we should leave earlier than originally planned. We headed off around 2:30pm Hit a ton of traffic getting onto the Spaulding and then at the tolls on the NH/MA boarder. After that though it was pretty much smooth sailing. Only took me an extra half hour to get home so that was pretty good. Course I had to Pee just before hitting the traffic at the toll but wouldn’t let myself stop because I really just wanted to be home at that point. So when we got here I grabbed a couple things told the kids to grab a couple and ran inside. The Mr.met me at the door and came out and unloaded almost all of the rest of the mess while I voided (as my grandmother always used to say) I kinda milked it but man I thought that I would never get out of there.
Then we had dinner and I dug into the mail from the week we were gone. Something from each of the kids schools. Got The Drama Queen’s schedule for new school year, but the letter enclosed with it was for an incoming SENIOR… ACK! It is bad enough that she is going to be a freshman people jeesh! SO I gotta be calling them to see what I am missing.
The Karate Kids school sent an order form for supplies. We have to buy them this year. Been waiting for this for two years now. They just keep cutting and cutting the school’s budget. And the town didn’t vote for the override so here we sit. Hopefully money from that thing I mentioned privately will bring in some much needed funds for these schools. It is bad enough that the High School is in danger of losing it’s accreditation because of poor MCAS scores. This town is going to hell in a handbasket! Ok better stop before going off on a rant here
So I have now had a chance to sleep in my own bed two nights. I looked forward to this, but have been sorely disappointed. I can’t sleep for the life of me. I have no idea why, unless it is hormonal. I thought that it might be because I wasn’t used to the noise anymore after being in the woods for 8 days with the only sounds being insects and loons (boy are they creepy sounding at night!!) so last night I shut the windows in our room. It got pretty cool last night anyway. But that didn’t really help either. I am hoping that I will at least sleep some tonight. I have to take The Drama Queen back-to-school shopping on Thursday and there is no way I will be able to handle that in my current state! Oy!
Maybe a shower will help wake me up…

Welcome to your 40’s. The sleep problems are a part of the package. Wait until you start hot flashes and night sweats. Those are fun, too.
LOL @ “the private thing” because I was just thinking “ok, they didn’t approve the override, but they voted in favor of the other thing..nice to know their priorities are in the right place.
Glad you had a good vacation.
