A while back I was searching for something diabetes related and came across this site that had quotes from parents of diabetic kids. I wish I could find it again so I could send it to my inlaws. One of the quotes was something along the lines of stop eating all those vegetables and have some cookies. Another was - “You’re not going to bed until you finish your ice cream!”

I have been tweaking the Karate Kids insulin in the mornings. He was always low at his lunch time check. I had him at a good balance before halloween, which threw it off a hair, he would spike, but we knew why. So he was going along ok until last week, without candy he was seeing some higher numbers at lunch, so yesterday I added a .5 of a unit. Guess what? I got a phone call that he was low. So I decided I was right all along and went back to what I was giving him before. Then I realized that the juice boxes I bought had 10 less grams of carbs than the ones I been buying. So was I right? Or was it because he got the carbs he is supposed to instead of the extra I had been giving him… or is it something different entirely… It gets so frustrating because I feel like I am force feeding him half the time. Don’t get me wrong he is a good eater, it is just hard sometimes to come up with 60 carbs for a meal. We had it cut down at his check up a couple months ago, with an adjustment to the insulin to coincide, but we have had to go back to the 60 carbs (30+ for snacks I was doing 40 for his morning snack at school until I bought the wrong juice boxes) and I am back to force feeding again. I hate for the hour before he leaves for school to be all about me pushing him to finish and him fighting me. It sucks! And the thing that is most frustrating is I don’t know how long this will last. He is still considered to be in “Honeymoon” so any day now that could all change… or a year from now… who knows?

Anyway I just really wish I could find that page again. It was so dead on what I go through on a daily basis.
