"Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart." ~ Kahlil Gibran
Because I am sick of repeating myself!!!
What’s the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes?
Type 1 Diabetes is a disorder in which the body does not produce insulin (a hormone that aids in moving sugar from the blood to the cells). This type of diabetes can be due to a virus or autoimmune disorder in which the body does not recognize an organ as its own and attacks it. In this case the body attacks an organ known as the pancreas where insulin is made.
Those with Type 1 Diabetes are required to take insulin injections to move sugar from the bloodstream. This type of diabetes is usually diagnosed before age 40.
Type 2 Diabetes occurs when insulin that the body produces is less efficient at moving sugar out of the bloodstream. Some sugar is moved out of the blood, just not as effectively compared to a person with normal insulin efficiency. High blood sugars are a result of this.
Diet, exercise, weight loss, and possible medications are the treatment for this type of diabetes. Occasionally, someone with Type 2 may be placed on insulin to better control blood sugars. This type of diabetes is associated with physical inactivity and obesity. Type 2 Diabetes used to be thought of as the adult onset type of diabetes. However, an alarming rate of children are now being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.
Unlike you that have Type 2, The Karate Kid can have what he wants as long as we follow a schedule and keep to the diet he has been given. He can have carbs!! Unlike you who are controling your diabetes with diet and aren’t supposed to, but do anyway. That is what the insulin injections are all about. So you can stop now with the repeated questions. They scare him and make him feel bad. He knows exactly what to do and what not to do. And so do we.
Damn it! My comments STILL have the wrong time on them. Grrrr!
Time looks good to me Heh!
I don’t mind explaining it a couple times. It is new and all. But every freaking time is a bit much ya know?
I had to change my time zone to Mountain to get the correct time stamp. (I live in Pacific). Maybe you still have the DST engaged for the site localization? I used to run into that problem a lot with EE. It gets too confusing, since members can set their own time zones. Wordpress has ONE time setting and that’s the way it should be.
Ugh.
Well, if it makes you feel any better (probably won’t) ...
I’ve been working the same shift at the same place for nine years. Each and every time the extended fambly gets together, they ask,
“So where are you working now?”
As if I’ve been job-hopping continuously all this time, or something.
Being that I work at a hotel ... um ... several of these same people, who ask this question? Every single time? ... have either stayed at the one I work at ... or asked me to get them a rate at another location. Omg?
Hey, thanks for letting me vent =]
I know the diff. I work with a woman that has type 1 and one of J’s bandmates is type 1. Learned quite a bit talking to them about lvls. I am at the point where I can tell when they need to do a check.
Dh has type 2, but his # are still low enough that he doesn’t need meds. Lost quite a bit of wt. As long as he watches what he eats he shouldn’t have any probs. No pasta, no sugar, icecream a BIG nono…
@SSG ~ I am not sure what is up with the time zone thing. I have to add the -60 in the main localization setting. It doesn’t matter what I have set for the server time zone it always shows me the same time. Which is an hour ahead of me. Just weird! Since adding the -60 works I never looked any further to see if it was something I did or something EE did
@ Sheri ~ Is it bad that everytime I read your name I sing that Frankie Valley song? Yes I am singing to you right now Sheri Baby. err Sorry. Yes my point, vent all you want! I love it
@ Ann ~ That is how my grandmother was for year and years. She was able to keep her type 2 under control until she was in her 80’s. I wish she was around to talk to about all this

I knew the difference but a lot of folks don’t, so it’s good you explained. The endless questions and assumptions must be tiresome.
