Moving up in the Company
I had always loved doing movie quizzes any chance I got. My parents had worked in a number of movie theatres as I was growing up. They had fallen in love and gotten married while working for the theatre business. Since I grew up watching almost every movie possible, dozens of times, I became something of an expert on movies.
Everyone at my office was always looking for movie quizzes to try to stump me. I was very good and until today, no one had been able to ask me a question that I couldn’t answer. The new girl in the office had heard about my obsession with movies and asked me during a break if I knew who had played one of the henchmen in an old Frankenstein movie.
To my surprise, I had not ever heard of the movie and so I didn’t know what the answer was. She gave me a few other hints based on other movies the man had been in and yet I still couldn’t answer the question. It soon circulated around the office that I wasn’t able to answer a movie trivia question and everyone was excited about it.
Then to my bigger surprise, I found out that the new young woman was actually the boss’s daughter who had decided to start out at the bottom and work her way up. My boss was the one who pulled me to the side and told me. He said that his daughter was a movie buff and obviously could give me a run for my money.
Of course, we began to date not long after that as we had so much in common. Within a few months, we both moved up in the company as her dad recognized the outstanding work we were accomplishing and he admire the fun quizzes we distributed throughout the office to improve morale.
